By 2038, it is estimated that Highway 395 traffic will have increased 90%. Sanbag and Caltrans have determined Phase One of the Highway 395 Widening Project to begin in Victorville and Adelanto, from Palmdale Road to Chamberlaine Way. The six-mile stretch of road, traveled heavily by trucks, will be increased from two-lanes to four-lanes with a 14-foot median to alleviate bottlenecks and allow for motorists to pass slower trucks safely. About five intersections and one bridge will also be modified within Phase One.
